A unique facet of our business is that every single member of our operational team is a craft-trained chef so they have real insight and understanding into the challenges facing today’s busy catering teams.

We like to think that our interest and love of the business permeates right through the company, from operations and business development to those on the front line – the kitchen floor, where everyone has a voice.

The result is that we have a team of passionate people who take great pride in their work and consequently, keep industry standards high.

Exceptional food takes exceptional talent and we have that in abundance.

Andrew Wilson

Andrew Wilson
Co-founder and Managing Director

Co-founder and managing director, Andrew Wilson, started his career within the hospitality sector as a trainee manager at the tender age of 19. After twelve months he was politely asked to leave, not because of his failings, but more that he had been thrown into the role without any induction, mentoring, training or support.

For Andrew, it was a hard and valuable life lesson; he learned that a symbiotic culture is absolutely the only way to run a business properly. It enforced in his mind the need to give staff solid training and support. He went to hold many senior positions within the contract catering sector including general manager for business development with Nelson Hind and director of sales and marketing with Avenance, until establishing Wilson Vale in 2002 with his wife, Carolyne Vale.

Carolyne Vale

Carolyne Vale
Co-founder and Managing Director

Carolyne Vale, co-founder and managing director, started her career with a HND in Hospitality Services from Birmingham University and progressed from trainee manager level to relief chef and then moved into operations. She was director of operations with Nelson Hind and regional managing director with Avenance.

In 2002, she established Wilson Vale with Andrew Wilson. It’s an impressive career progression story but what is truly inspirational about Carolyne is her ability to see potential in people and bring the best out of them. Responsible for the operational side of the business, she has an impeccable eye for detail and continues to take a hands-on role. Carolyne is a member of the Women 1st Top 100 Most Influential Women in Hospitality listing and was named one of the top 200 most influential people in Leicestershire.

Alan Beddie

Alan Beddie
Managing Director

Alan Beddie, managing director, spent five years in a business development role with Wilson Vale between 2003 and 2008.  He re-joined the company, following a five-year term as director at Harbour & Jones. What impressed him most is the fact that Wilson Vale has retained key people and clients in the intervening years and remained loyal to its core values, resisting diversification to accelerate growth.  Alan works closely with Carolyne Vale to ensure consistent quality and stability across Wilson Vale’s client-base. Like all of Wilson Vale’s operational staff, Alan is a former chef so he has insight into the challenges facing today’s catering teams. His role is a significant investment by the company and highlights the importance Wilson Vale places on looking after it clients and its people.
