Celebrating our winners at the 2019 Cook and Serve Challenge
This year’s annual Cook and Serve challenge took place on Saturday 26th October.
Organised by Venues of Excellence, this event is now in its 20th year and we were delighted to support it again.
The challenge attracted venue teams from across the country who were challenged to design, cook, and serve a three-course meal. As well as serving the meal, waiters and waitresses had to lay up a table, provide a centrepiece and produce two cocktails – an alcoholic and a non-alcoholic choice.
Teams were then independently judged based on individual courses, drinks service and overall performance.
Jack Jarman, our head chef at College Court, took the title, ‘Champion Chef’.
Assistant food & beverage manager at College Court, Athina Vasileiou, walked away with five awards on the evening for ‘Best Cocktail’, ‘Best Beverage Selection’, ‘Best Food Service’ and ‘Food Service Champion’.
Our team at Woodland Grange and Make The Hub also won awards: George Midgeley (Best Main Course), Alex King (Best Starter) and Anthony Millward (Best Beverage Selection).
Andrew Wilson, co-founder of Wilson Vale, said: “This was a stunning result for Wilson Vale. They all performed exceptionally well and demonstrated our level of craft skills training throughout the business. It was a great event and all credit to those who supported it, from the real hands-on support of Riccardo Corbinzolu to the technical support behind the scenes from our Head Office team.”
