Andrew Davies, Managing Director at Andrew Davies Bakery in Kenilworth, Warwickshire, recently spared us a few minutes of his time to talk us through the operation of the bakery and their partnership with Wilson Vale. He also let us in on his guilty pleasure… a classic sausage roll!
Andrew Davies Bakery, established in 1997, is a traditional baker using home made production techniques to craft great quality goods. The company produces a wide range of white and brown bread rolls, morning goods, cakes, pastries and savoury goodies, but as well as operating as a delicious bakery, they also offer trading and catering services. It’s clear from the short conversation with Andrew that working with and supporting local suppliers is a very important factor to him and the team.
Andrew said, “We love to work with local producers and always try our best to source our bakery’s ingredients from as nearby as possible. Over the years we’ve built up quite the reputation in the area and a lot of that has come from networking with other local greengrocers and butchers.”
He goes on to describe the positive relationship they have built with Wilson Vale:
“Having worked closely with Wilson Vale for the last 18 months, we supply quite a range of our products to them, which tends to be mostly bread, bread rolls and yummy pastries. We thoroughly enjoy working with Wilson Vale as they’re one of our many loyal partners whom we have a great business relationship with, but not only that, other important key factors including their kitchens all being very well organised and therefore easy to work with!”
Andrew also let us in on his favourite product from the bakery and his top tip for being a successful business:
“Our sausage rolls of course, I must have a sausage roll almost every day! When it comes to a top tip to share with other business owners such as caterers, producers and suppliers and then of course customers, I’d say that the key is to always shop locally and support independent use wherever possible!”
