Nationwide Expertise: Shaping the Future

Sep 22, 2025

In this article, Business Focus speaks to our Managing Director, Melissa Wallbank, whose career journey and leadership are helping to shape the way we grow while staying true to our values.

Driven by culinary craft and great food, Wilson Vale is a B Corp contract caterer working with office restaurants, conference venue catering and independent school dining. Wilson Vale operates by nurturing skill and creativity in its catering teams, giving them the support and trust they need to provide exceptional food.

“We pride ourselves on offering a quality, bespoke service to all of our clients,” says Melissa Wallbank, Managing Director. Wilson Vale has been operating since 2002, and the whole ethos of the company is a restaurant standard, chef-led fresh approach to food. Food and people are at the centre of everything they do.

Wilson Vale achieved B Corp certification just this year, acknowledging the company’s dedicated approach to sustainability and the environment.

“We have always had a commitment to the environment and our wider social impact,” Wallbank tells us. “Our founders, Andrew Wilson and Carolyne Vale, have personally been very focused on building sustainability into the foundations of the company. B CORP is a testament to that. It is the start of a process of continued development, and a review of all our processes and procedures so that we can continue to improve.”

KEEPING IT FRESH

The company works out of 85 sites positioned across the UK, from Edinburgh to the southeast. Wherever Wilson Vale is located around the country, it is known for its focus on fresh produce, innovation, and chefs who are granted the independence to get really creative with their work.

“We don’t typically recruit business managers,” Wallbank points out. “Our managers are chef managers, and we give them the freedom to make their own menus. We don’t rely on a prescriptive central recipe bank. Everything is handled on-site by individual chefs, which lends itself to vibrancy and innovation, keeping it fresh and interesting for our clients.”
